Now that Oprah has come out and endorsed her senator Barack Obama for president, I thought it would be a good time to share two of the photos I took May 12, 2007 when Oprah was the keynote speaker for Howard University's commencement, and of course was honored with an honorary doctorate.

Coincidentally (I think) Sen. Obama will be the keynote speaker for the Howard University Convocation September 28, 2007. Barring any glitches, I plan to be there photographing the good senator (glitches like the over-zealous Howard security guard who threatened to have me arrested while I photographed Oprah--for refusing to kneel down!)

Bow to your highness, Empress Oprah, for she is queen of all things womanly and afternoonish! Ha ha.

I adore Oprah, but, unlike many of her fans, I do not harbor this blind love for her. Why?

1) If Oprah was a good friend, she would tell Gayle to pull that busted-ass orange weave out her head, and go with something closer to chestnut brown. (I have a thing about women whose hair fades into their face b/c it's the same color)

2) I love Ludacris.

3) Quietly, I'm totally supporting Hillary.

Overzealous security guards? Yeah, I ran into more than a few of those at Howard, including overzealous financial aid officers, dorm directors, professors (not you though, Dr. F!)and fellow students. I miss Howard.

It'll be interesting to see what kind of reaction Sen. Obama gets at HU. I'm sure he won't get any negativity but it'll be interesting to see in person all the same. And while he is from my homestate of Illinois, I haven't jumped on the Obama '08 train. Truthfully I'm not feeling any of these candidates yet.
