Chicago Urban Landscapes

All photos (c) 2007, Incorrigible Curmudgeon

In March 2007, I made my first visit to Chicago and was captivated by the imagery I encountered (like finding that Lake Michigan was as turquoise as the Caribbean). These are a few of my favorite images.

Ah, my neck of the woods. It's funny seeing my hometown through someone else's eyes and seeing what attracted you. Like, I never would have thought of comparing Lake Michigan to the Carribean, I just look at as, there's the lake. And that mural at the Funky Buddha Lounge? I must have passed it a million and one times and not once did it cross my mind to take out my camera and capture on film. (or on SD card, as it were) Glad you enjoyed my hometown! Did you make it out to the south side or west side at all? The architecture there is amazing.

Thanks, Danielle, I really enjoyed being in your neck of the woods.

I was there to see an exhibit by my friend Joyce Owens, a Chicago artist who had a show at the Woman-Made Gallery, which is why so many of the photos are in that vicinity. She was an art student at Howard with me back in the day.

I made it as far south as Chicago State University but didn't shoot a lot of photos there.

BTW, I was also impressed by the vaunted Chicago deep dish pizza. My student from Chicago recommended Giordano's and the Spinach Pizza I had there was the best I have ever had! I should have taken a photo of that pizza, a genuine Chicago landmark. :)

These photos remind me why I love Chicago. I'm really enjoying your photos, Curmudgeon. For a mean, old guy, you have a keen eye. :p

These are really, great Dr. F. The cow is my favorite. You're making me want to take a trip.

Thanks, DeeCeeVoice, glad you liked them. And glad I got to know a little about why you like Chicago. I like it too, and don't know what took me so long.

Thanks SexyHUJournalist, glad you like the photos. I shot a lot of Chicago cows of which this was my favorite too. By all means give Chicago a try (and the deep-dish pizza too).
